What I Wore: B-BQ in the Country...

A few Saturday's ago, we attended a lovely outdoor (and evening) gathering in the countryside; about 10 miles south of where we live.  These pics were taken in our quaint downtown--en route to this wonderful summertime outing.

My first inclination was to run out and buy something new to wear that evening. However, my better judgment kicked in (smile), and I decided to sport a cherished piece (already in my own closet) that was perfect for a summertime B-BQ.

It was a bit muggy that night, but there was a great breeze that kicked in quite frequently.  I was sure glad I donned my fedora.  My favorite straw hat would have worked just as well, though...

Much of our time was spent conversing on the beautiful, covered back porch of our dear hosts.  Trekking to the food and drink tent, however, required a walk through the lawn.  Although I adore sporting strappy sandals this time of year, my TOMS were (by far) the best choice that night!

To see a slightly different variation of how I wore this same dress to the local Classics on Main (antique car show) last month, click here.  I love heavy rotation, don't you?

For summertime events such as this, simplicity is the key.  My makeup was light, and  jewelry was kept to the bare minimum.

The great thing about a dress like this is that I can mix and match it with so many color combos.  This time, I played up the navy and turquoise aspects in the print.
